阳春三月，风朗气清，春光明媚。早上，我校师生齐聚小学部操场，参加了第三周升旗仪式，同时也是我校首届外语节的开幕式。开幕式由初一十班的於玺同学用中英文主持，初中部和小学部各有学生做了国旗下的演讲，小学部还献上了英文诗歌朗诵表演。
庄严肃穆的升旗仪式结束后，外语节正式拉开帷幕，本届外语节的主题是“Melting into the world——走向世界”。设置这个主题的意义在于鼓励每一位同学主动突破认知的局限，在更宽广的视野中去审视学习的价值，培养探究精神，为不可预测的未来培养自己的学习观、价值观和世界观。我校初中部和小学部的外籍校长，Martin和Daniel分别为外语节致辞：

Good morning dear leaders, teachers, and students.
Welcome to the opening ceremony of the ‘First Foreign Language Festival’ at Nanjing Foreign Language School Fangshan Campus.
Language surrounds us everyday, not only when we speak.
Language is communication.
Ideas, feelings, and understanding can be expressed through communication. The majority of the time we use our mouths or bodies to communicate these. Yet we find language in other forms throughout life. Animals speak with one another, plants talk to each other, art conveys language, music and dance does the same. Even fashion has a voice.
Regardless of where we go or what we do, language is constantly there for us. Language adds colour to our lives, it is multidimensional, it moves, it changes. Yet it has been helping us to communicate for thousands of years, and will continue to do so for a very very long time.
There are over 7,000 languages in the world today, and it is said that travel broadens the mind. Did you know that Chinese, English, and French are some of the most widely spoken languages in the world! At Fangshan every student has the opportunity to learn each of these languages, meaning as a trilingual speaker the world is your oyster!
Don’t think of language as a subject, it is a tool that will open pearls of this world, far beyond our best imagination.

Good morning capable leaders, distinguished teachers, friends, and friends-to-be. I am excited to stand here in front of you to talk about foreign languages. Why am I excited? I am excited because I believe you are all destined for beautiful, innovative, incredible things. I believe the talents you will pursue, and the thoughts you will have, should be shared with the world.
Global vision means not only will you see and learn from the world, but that the world can see and learn from you. I am lucky, I have met almost all of you, and I have chances to meet those I haven’t. I want to do my part for our global society, and help you develop the skills you need to introduce yourselves to everyone else – to leave your mark on the world.
At the very least, if you learn your foreign languages, and I learn mine, I can get to know you as much as I would like. Thank you.
我校从小学一年级就开设了英语和法语课，小学一年级的孩子在外语节开幕式上分别献上了一首英文诗歌朗诵和一场英文演讲。

Good morning, dear teachers and classmates, I'm Martin. Today I am glad to share some interesting things about my Spring Festival.
During the Spring Festival, there was a heavy snow in Nanjing. Look here, this is a snowman. It's fat and lovely, right? I made it with my parents.
I let off many fireworks with my sister, they looked colorful and beautiful, we were happy.
On the day of Spring Festival, I gave my best wishes to my grandparents and aunt, so I got red pockets from them.
You see, there are so many interesting things I can do in the winter vacation, I like it.

尊敬的老师们，亲爱的同学们：
大家好！我是来自初一（6）班的江尚航，我们都熟知杜牧的那首《江南春》，“千里莺啼绿映红，水村山郭酒旗风，南朝四百八十寺，多少楼台烟雨中。” 烟花三月的春景用我们中国特有的短短几个汉字表达得淋漓尽致，它还可以用另一种语言表达：“Red against green, and a huge troupe of warblers singing; Hillside, riverside hamlets, with blue flags fluttering; The Southern Dynasties had four hundred eighty Building temples; How many tower and terraces are wrapped in misty drizzles!” 英文也一样动听而美好！So，guys，do you know how many countries are there in the world? With more than 200 countries and regions, with the deepening of economic globalization and world integration, the whole world has become a global village, and nearly half of them use English, Learning and using foreign languages has become an indispensable part of the daily life of thousands of people.
Our school always attaches great importance to English teaching.
