Born and educated in Dublin, Ireland, John holds an MSc from the University of Amsterdam in international relations and a first-class honours MA degree in international history from University College Dublin. In addition, he holds a CELTA, teaching English as a foreign language qualification.
John’s philosophy is one based on empathy and student centred learning. As someone who is self-taught in Chinese, he understands that language acquisition can be remarkably difficult and takes time. John puts the students first in lesson preparation, making sure that students’ specific needs are met and their difficulties addressed. After all, no two students are the same, so no two lessons should be either.

我的教学理念是基于同理心、以学生为中心。我本人一直坚持自学中文，也明白语言的学习过程并不简单，需要投入大量时间和精力。在备课过程中，我始终将学生放在第一位，坚持考虑学生的需求，积极帮助学生解决学习过程中遇到的种种难题。我坚信，世界上没有两个完全相同的孩子，所以也不应该存在两节一模一样的课堂。
