On the afternoon of March 31, all the faculty and staff of the NFLSFC gathered in the Thousand People Theater to carry out the school-based teaching and research activities of math demonstration courses. Zhu Shengqiang, a special-grade mathematics teacher from Jiangsu Province and a teacher from Nanjing Foreign Language School, came to NFLSFC to give guidance. The training was hosted by Director Zhang Yu of the Teaching Management Center.
The event was divided into three parts: course presentation, expert evaluation and lectures. In the course presentation session, Mr. Wang Fengzhong from the Science and Technology High School of NFLSFC helped students review the law of sine and cosines they had previously learned through typical sample questions, and led to the topic of today’s lesson -- "The Application of The Law of Sines and Cosines". In the teaching process, Mr. Wang took students as the center of learning and guided students to ask more, do more, observe more, and think more, promoting students' thinking innovation and actively creating a learning situation that is conducive to students' independent exploration, cooperation and communication. It is crucial to guide students to carry out effective learning activities such as observation, thinking, and communication, so that students can experience and understand mathematics in the classroom.
After the wonderful class presentation, Mr. Zhu Shengqiang commented and gave guidance to the class. Mr. Zhu Shengqiang pointed out that this class is an application class, especially in combination with practical problems, which requires higher teaching skills. Mr. Wang Fengzhong grasped this "degree" very well, fully demonstrating a teacher's teaching wit and profound teaching foundation. At the same time, Mr. Wang Fengzhong encouraged students to express their opinions in class, used inspiring teaching language to guide students to think, created situations to help students learn how to deal with problems in practical applications, and developed students' text reading and modeling capabilities to experience the value of mathematics in practical applications.
After the class evaluation, Mr. Zhu gave a wonderful lecture to the faculty and staff of the NFLSFC around the "new textbooks, and new college entrance examination". He pointed out that the new college entrance examination is based on the general high school curriculum standards and the selection standers of talents in universities, highlighting the orientation of moral education and human cultivation, and focusing on testing the ability to analyze and solve problems using the knowledge learned. In the lecture, Mr. Zhu made a specific analysis based on the development history of Jiangsu college entrance examination and the mathematics question types of the new college entrance examination, and elaborated on the new changes in the college entrance examination and the "one core, four layers and four wings" college entrance examination evaluation system. He emphasized that facing the new college entrance examination, teachers should root for the foundation of teaching, pay attention to the coverage of knowledge as well as the cultivation of students' inquiry ability, and promote the improvement of students' comprehensive quality.
Zhu Shengqiang's lecture is based on the practice of education and teaching with much personal unique thinking. All the teachers in the NFLSFC listened very carefully, deeply inspired and benefited a lot. This activity allowed teachers to learn from each other through lectures, and created a platform for teachers to display, communicate, and learn, laying a solid foundation for further improving the quality of education and teaching.
